Finishing flurry
I don't know about you, but sometimes my finishes snowball. I'll finish one thing and before I know it in a week I have several! It's exciting!
It gives me permission to start something new, or more commonly to look at some of my more languishing projects and see about getting them there, too.
Last time I talked about my spinning WIPs, and one caught my eye, the magenta targhee singles I was working on with several drop spindles. After I posted I picked them back up and within two days I was finished!
I wound them off onto a niddy noddy and finished it like usual. A quick soak and hanging.
It's in three (well, actually four, the large one has ends tied together) skeins because I spindled it in 4 parts. Joining in the knitting will just be a matter of split splicing.
I don't have accurate yardage info, it's probably a light fingering overall, but it really bloomed in the blocking and I don't trust the yardage I originally counted. Spinners problems.
And, speaking of magenta, I realized that my Evenstar was just a quick edging away from finishing. Now, there was nothing quick about it. When I did the Evenstar the first time back in 2012 as a full-pi circle shawl, I thought for sure when I got the edging it was 95% finished. Then I did the math and realized it is the same amount of stitches in the main body of the shawl as the edging. So, there was a reason it took months to finish. Not to mention the extra time it takes to add beads.
This is just a matter of powering through some rather tedious beading. Now, I love beads, but this one is a doozy!
Finally though, two nights ago, I finished! Looked about like this:
(rather pathetic to be honest.)
And so, yesterday, I soaked it and pinned it out and voila! Blocking is like magic, I tell you what.
Now you can see all the lacey details, and the pinned out points are striking!
I almost can't believe that that shawl was a floof only 9 months ago. Very Excite. This was some of my most ambitious spinning, which I enjoyed thoroughly. I definitely think I gave the floof the justice it deserved.

A few days ago, while pining for cross stitch, I had the opportunity to go floss shopping. I'm not going out of my way for floss, that's for sure. But I had the opportunity in the midst of other necessary errands, so I went and picked out all the floss I need for my next cross stitch project. Fortunately the pattern came in later that day (I had the floss info from their website), unfortunately craft store did not have the correct fabric. bummer. And new fabric will arrive in two weeks.
In a pique, brought on my this frustration, I decided that I might as well Wind the yarn. Which is no small task.
There's the sorting.
And the winding.
And the sheer amount of time involved.
But eventually.
Eventually.
Now we wait.
I hope you enjoyed this random assortment of finishes and beginnings. Next time I'll talk about a few new projects I have going. One is a sock. The other is not actually new at all, but from the summer and languishing. tune in!
