It's nice and I like it

So, you know how I said I'd be spinning a lot and there wouldn't be a lot to share.. Weeell, I lied.  and not only did I lie, I have things to share and I *haven't been sharing.*  Beyond shameful.

I suppose I'll start where I left off last month.  No, I haven't really spun at all since then.  I watched The Good the Bad and the Ugly while spinning one day, fantastic movie, fantastic spinning.  And then I haven't spun at all since then.

In fact, I've picked up my crochet hooks and have been doing a lot of nerdy things.  Things like replaying FFX and FFIX.  Things like, crocheting a Tonberry and finishing up the crochet part of my cardigan.

Very little knitting has been happening, but I'm OK with that.

So, on to the crafting:

A Tonberry if you're uninitiated is a reoccurring nightmare in the final fantasy multi-verse.  He's a small, slow guy with a kitchen knife and is not afraid to stab you with his kitchen knife. XD

I am going to go out on a limb and say that this is my favorite thing I've ever crocheted.  he's absolutely perfect.  the instructions took a little getting used to (there doesn't seem to be a standard form for crochet instructions, so every designer has their own voice and it can be tricky) but other than the deviation of word-choice, it was very easy to follow along the pattern.

All that to say, I luff him. ^^

The gray tunic here is crocheted out of yarn you probably don't recognize, but it's part of the extra skein I bought for the crochet cardigan.  Initially I was nervous to use up a bit of the yarn cause I thought I should probably finish the crochet cardigan.  But then I realized that was actually stupid.  there's no way I'd use most of a skein of yarn on this little guy's cloak enough to cause problems for the sweater.

I did get it in my head though to actually finish the cardigan.  And let me say, I'm actually close, even despite a few weeks hiatus to replay FFX and FFIX.  oh, early 2000s final fantasy, how I love thee.  I actually managed to beat FFX *without* cheap tricks, and really enjoyed myself too.  I don't go for the dark aeons or any of the other superbosses in the game, I'm satisfied with kicking Brasca's final aeon and then watching the story finish.

And then it was back to crocheting.

It looks like the cat has taken several bites out of the sweater, but in fact, those are armholes. The arms were made without a picture, sorry, but as you can see, they were made.  I tried it on after sewing together the garment.  woohoo! it fits! and finally there's the button bands.  They are knit and then sewn on.  I did the first one so I would get the length right, and then I did some calculating to figure out where the button holes should go on the second one.  Now the sweater needs a neck band and buttons, but otherwise it's finished.  This is very exciting.

Little things have happened throughout the last month or so.  I hung up the pokemon in Hazel's painted bedroom:

I ended up purchasing a poster frame, which was interesting to work with.  I used spray adhesive to glue down the fabric and then clipped on the frame pieces.  As you can see, her walls are a lovely purple, and really complements the pokemon.

I also had a birthday! I'm 35 now!  35.  crazy.  I was just 20.  Where has the time gone?

:looks over at children who are also getting older:  Gee, no one will ever know the answer to that, will they?

And finally, I brought out my old ball-jointed dolls.  They've been in storage since we originally moved here to California in 2020.

Back in the day, oh, 8 or 9 years ago when I bought my doll family, I had intentions to do all the crafting for them.  I ended up stopping after just a few outfits.  I am not really one to play with them.  They make me happy, looking at them, and I still have the wee sweaters and things to gawk at.  For example:

This is a miniature St. Brigid sweater (the Alice Starmore pattern), knit with laceweight yarn.  the circumference of the chest is approximately 7" around. (sorry, I didn't include a banana for scale) so this thing is bitty.  Fun fact, in those days, in crafting circles, my screen name was bittyknitter.  I just assumed I'd continue to craft teensy things for these guys.

Nope.  lost interest.  That's cool.

Anyway, that's all the crafting I have to share for now.  I fully intend to pour myself back in spinning after the crochet hiatus is over.  In the background there is some sock knitting, I visited the localist yarn store and tried 9" circs (did not enjoy) and there's nothing really of note to really delve into right now.

I hope the time change isn't too hard on you if you are subjected to it as we are.  horrendous nonsense.  I hates it.  HATES.

I'll hopefully see you in a few weeks!

Cheers!
